What Customers Say About Rebel without a Crew: Or How a 23-Year-Old Filmmaker With $7,000 Became a Hollywood Player:

If you are a film maker, and you have somewhat succeeded in what RR calls "becoming technical", then this book oozes just enough technical stuff to keep it informative without detracting from what the book really is - a recount of his experience making El Mariachi. I had never seen a film by Robert Rodriguez before reading this book, but what an amazing story. Rodriguez writes very freely and this is one of those books responsible for the well-known cliche "once you start you can't put it down" or something along those lines. Whatever you take from the book, it's going teach you something.Rebel Without A Crew is also a hilarious read. It could inspire anyone to want to make a movie even if you've never contemplated such an idea before. As a start-out film maker, it's been far more inspiring than any technical book I've read on the subject of film making.

If anyone is interested in collaborating for a film venture, please let me know I am a well read and an informed guy. (now I am glad to see the rate reduced)His achievements are phenomenal and are an inspiration to all indie film makers NO QUESTIONS about that but guys we all know his story. The reviews forced me to purchase a new copy though my gut feeling, after reading a few pages on the Amazon, said this will be it in his book--but I made the mistake of buying it.He doest give enough tips about film making all he says is his brief experiences before and during the making of E.M and elaborate details while selling and promoting his film. This book has 285 pages of which 75 pages are his screenplay for El Mariachi which can be downloaded for free online. The 10 minute Film School part consists of 14 pages---this can be seen on You Tube or his DVD of E.M.Better still to buy his DVD rather than this book. Guys if you are an indie film maker do not buy this book at all, Mr.RR could have at least reduced the price of this book by half.

Gets you all stirred up, you'll be ready to shoot your own film, you'll be so pumped.Get it, read it. It was my first film making book.A great inspiration and a wonderful read. You'll love it. This book is insane and so is Robert. Sorry I never reviewed this book.

A must for any budding film-maker. The story of how one man went from an amateur film-maker to a Hollywood superstar. A thoroughly entertaining and inspiring story.

We just go out find something and then shoot it - of course we spend the rest of the day thinking of other places to go the next week. This is a wonderfully engaging book. We discuss screenplays and documentaries we'd like to do as well as movies and shows we should see during the week. We edit our video during the week and show what we came up with with the same material. It is written like a diary and as such I didn't feel like I had to complete the chapter in order to get the information in tangible pieces.Funny, smart and humorously smart aleck. A real window into the process from start to finish."Rebel Without A Crew" has inspired me to go film anything once a week with a friend.
